About
L2DC was founded in January 2009 by “TheOne”. The full name of L2DC is L2DragonClaw.
L2DC started as a fork on L2J sources because L2J had slow development. So we (the L2DC team) started our own SVN and after that we could develop in our own paste and this is what has brought us where we are today
Very soon we decided to completely split from the L2J fork and loose some compatibility. As L2J has a lot of bad code we started to rewrite a lot of code, mostly to fix exploits and to improve the performance.
Since then we do not completely sync our files with L2J anymore as our code is quite different in a big part and it’s either difficult or they add features that we have already put in with better code. We never say that we do not synch from l2j-vanilla(original l2j) since we do. However we mostly take inspiration of how they do it and rewrite it in our way and/or keep parts of code.
Our project is a closed-source and we do not share full builds. From time to time we share small parts of code with L2J, but they usually refuse to commit them.
Right now L2DC is quite different from L2J, with only in common some small parts of code and the JAVA programming language.
L2DC is made by developers and admins for developers and admins. To take part in L2DC you have to contribute decent code. Once you stop contributing code, you are kicked out. The team is reasonably big and the development is fast, right now we are about 6 months ahead of the L2J and its forks. At least that is what some claim and we take it kindly and it gives us new energy to keep working.
L2DC features are mostly well known from servers that use L2DC software. These features are posted on this website, so further information will not be placed here.
The L2DC performance is far better then any of the L2J forks, because we prefer to rewrite most parts of the code, rather then applying simple hacks to get temporary workarounds. The L2DC performance is about 50% better then any other JAVA based Lineage 2 Server Software, with nearly all exploits fixed and little bugs. The L2DC server load time is half of any other server software. Even Though startup time doesn’t say much of how stable server is it does say that we work on every aspect of the server. We do not have any real benchmarks but from developers who have joined our time and previously used l2j or other fork they say it is a lot less memory consuming and/or CPU. Some even claim up to 100% less
Our data sources are retail players, leaked retail server files and retail forums.
Enjoy playing on the L2DC servers as they cover a big branch of server gameplay types, from low rates to PvP and Faction. We make sure you can play on a nearly bug-free server that is very stable without any “noob” admins that just download builds and install them.
